I replaced a Cary, which has significantly more power, but is not as quiet. Also, the Cary has a headphone output, balance controls, muting, remote control, etc. Nonetheless, this is a very nice sounding preamp.

Have built the Transcendent line preamp which is based on a grounded grid design and as well the phono preamp. Both of the Transcendents sound excellent although some skill with reading circuit diagrams, tools and soldering would be needed.
